In 2020 many schools throughout the U.S went to online schooling. Some schools like Eastmont changed their grading system. They made it easier for students to get better grades. They lowered the percent to get a grade by 4 percent. For example, if you had an 86 percent it was an A minus.

Tyse, an 8th grade student at Eastmont Junior High when asked if he has noticed changes in his grades this year that he normally doesn’t have said, “I have C’s and a lot of missing assignments.

At Eastmont Highschool the F list is as big as it has ever been. Mr Knell, a teacher at Eastmont Highschool said, “the F list has never been this big.” Many other teachers have also talked about how many kids are failing.

In 2020 you could go and come to the google meets whenever you wanted. Eastmont highschool and the Junior High made a change in mid October of 2021. Teachers can now mark kids tardy when they come into class. When a kid gets 4 tardies they have lunch detention. With this new rule students have been in class more, so maybe it will help them with their grades.

In 2020 you could turn in assignments whenever because there was no due date. This had a big effect because this year it went back to normal where a student couldn’t turn in late work for the past 2 weeks. When asked if he turned in any late work past 2 weeks last year, Tyse said, “ I turned in work that was a month or two late all the time last year and teachers would accept it.” This happened all year for students from middle school all the way through high school.
