Students at Eastmont High School experienced the first snow days in memory on January 6th and 7th. With a record breaking 22 inches falling over the Wenatchee Valley, students had a variety of reactions.

Sophomore Mario Alvarado said it was early on Thursday and he hadn’t looked outside when his mom got a notification that there wasn’t going to be school and so he went back to sleep. He later spent the two days sleeping and playing video games.

Chelsea Qui, Sophomore, added without hesitation, “I was literally so happy. I woke up, checked my phone, and saw my friend had texted me that we had no school and I felt joy in my heart.”

Many people around the valley found the fallen snow left them with a heavy burden of work. Eastmont High School students were no different.

Alex Ellington, a junior, stated, “The snow day affected me by having to spend a long time shoveling out my roof and driveway.”

However, other students were able to get out and enjoy their days off brought by the surprisingly snowfall.

“My family and I brought our side by side out and pulled a sled behind it,” said Ryan Daggett, a EHS Sophomore.

Also able to get out and enjoy the snow was Junior Lilli Rojas.

“My initial thoughts on the amount of snow was actually like excitement, like it looked so soft and white and fluffy. So I put on my snow suit and jumped in the snow and started swimming in it, so I would say on January 6th it was just happiness, it was really fun.”

After all the work and fun the two days brought, the question on everyone’s mind now is whether Eastmont High School will ever experience another snow day.
