Music is an element of managing high school amongst students today. It constructs creativity, and emotional outlets. But what are students’ favorite genres of music?

A survey was offered throughout Eastmont High School to answer this question. Out of the few responses, most people answered that they’re favorite music genre is rock with pop and classical music tied for second place. Although others filled out their own genres. 

When asked “what is your favorite music genre and why?” Eastmont High School student Carson says, “It would probably have to be midwest emo and punk because those are the genres that feel the most emotionally raw, plus the tones of the instruments are just really nice.”

Students often use music as an art form of expression. Listening to music with purpose serves so many benefits for your mood and perspective throughout the day. Out of the survey, it was a tie between listening to music to relax, and for background music.

When asked why they listen to music, Janet responds with, “Sometimes it helps me focus, and other times it’s just to listen to music honestly.”

From the survey, the majority of students agree that they listen to music all the time or most of the time. Music is a part of the high school experience, that most students can agree with, and is worth a lot to them.
