Every year in the Wenatchee Valley we have an Apple Blossom Pageant and festival. This is a time where girls from Eastmont and Wenatchee compete for the queen and two princess spots. At Eastmont, we have Debbie Wirth who is the Eastmont Apple Blossom Advisor. She helps the Eastmont girls prepare all throughout the season for the pageant. Debbie has a passion for this and it is so clearly seen by the way she talks about it.

“ My favorite part of it all is getting to know all the girls.”

Debbie has been doing this for five years and every year has something different than all the other years.

“ This year has the most girls we have ever had competing.”

Because this process takes multiple months, there are so many amazing moments but also the not so great moments. These girls work so hard to write their speeches, memorize them, perform them on stage in front of judges and a crowd, and if that wasn’t enough pressure, the speeches are streamed live so anyone can watch them.

“ The hardest part about the process is watching the girls work so hard to not make it into the top ten.”

The Apple Blossom process every year is a great experience for the girls competing and for the families backing them up throughout it all.
