Coach Tyler McGee is the new head coach for boys wrestling for the 23 – 24 season.

In his high school career, Coach McGee wrestled for Ellensburg, making it to state his senior year, and has been assistant head-coach for the past seven years.

Coach McGee is very excited about this upcoming season. He said the team lost some good seniors last year but said he’s excited to see all the new potential coming in. McGee also said he is aware that the team has some state bound players up-and-coming.

When asked if McGee will change any of the coaching focuses used in past years, he replied with the three (named) periods of a match: “The first is won by technique, the second by the best conditioning, but the third period comes down to who has the most heart, whoever wants it the most will win.”

Coach McGee’s goal is to mentally win, which has been a Wildcat high-point throughout the lifetime of this school. Wrestling is an individual sport but McGee believes teammates are utilized so that the entire team can profit from the friendly competition during practices.
