On March 1, 2025, Wenatchee’s schoolhouse rugby team is switching to a different league. The schoolhouse rugby team was in the D2 high school league but now The club is in the D1 high school league.
When talking about change, Coach Brent said, “I want to show the other teams how good we are.”
Schoolhouse rugby players also wanted to switch. They wanted more competition because they had won the Cascade Region League Cup for three years in a row.
One of the players that wanted to switch, Jacobi Mercado, said, “ I wanted to switch because I wanted more competitiveness for our team”.
Pacific Northwest high school teams are more aggressive and competitive because they are the top teams in Washington State and the nation’s high school rugby teams.
