How many years have you been teaching?
14 years (10 at Eastmont)
Where are you from/Did you grow up here?
I am originally from Manson, But I moved to Wenatchee when I was 10.
Did you always want to be a teacher?
No, I wanted to be an artist like my dad’s good friend or a home builder like my dad.
If you’ve traveled, where have you been?
I lived in Thailand for two years and lived in Manama, Bahrain for a year. During that time living abroad, I traveled to 14 other countries.
What makes you so fond of English?
Each year I teach, I get ot have a new experience with new students using almost the same content. It’s really cool to see the differences of analysis and interpretation year to year.
What’s the best/worst thing about being a teacher?
Best thing is the fact that I am constantly learning and laughing (I learn with the students and I laugh with and at them). The worst thing about being a teacher is typically dealing with discipline issues; if all students just showed up, did the work, and showed respect, every single person in the school would be happier. Sadly, drama fills the halls at the highschool.
What do you do in your free time?
I love spending time with my family. My main hobbies include golfing, hunting, fishing, snowboarding, mountain biking, and just overall being outdoors.
If you could have any animal as a pet, what?
A mini-giraffe (I just think this would be so cool!)
What kind of driver were you when you first got your license?
Oooh, I was bad. I drove too fast and I rarely full stopped at stop signs. Now, I’m like a granny behind the wheel (there’s really no rush. You can basically get anywhere in this valley in less than 10 minutes).
