The phone policy first started off last school year, 2023-2024 but it was a voluntary thing to do. This school year 2024-2025 it is a requirement to have phones in the phone holder by the teachers.
The phone policy is to help students and their education this is because, students will use their phones during class when they are not allowed to. It causes distraction to those around them.
A student at Eastmont High School wanted to share their opinion. Sophomore Andrea Ramos said, “In my opinion I think the phone policy is a good and bad thing because what happens if there is an emergency at the school and students need to call or text their parents quickly but can’t because the phone is across the room in the phone holder. But also it does help students academically because they don’t have a habit of secretly going on their phones during class and not listening to the teachers teaching their class.”
Each teacher has a phone holder in their classroom; each has 30 pockets for every student attending their classroom, and there are numbers each assigned to the students so no phone gets stolen or accidentally get taken.
Another student at Eastmont High School, Sophomore Ashley Perdamo said, “I don’t like it because I sometimes have to take a phone call but our teachers don’t allow us to have our phones on us.”
