Tuesday night our choir Program put on their last choir concert of the year, handing out awards in between performances and celebrating the end of the year.
Chamber choir started off the concert with a spiritual called “Hold me, rock me” composed by Brian Tate, with a solo from Samantha Burnett. Jazz Choir followed with “Mind is on Vacation,” “Tenderly,” and “Lemon drop” with solos from Ava Loidhamer, Tia Turner, Aayva Smith, and Samantha Burnett.
After Jazz Choir’s incredible performance Mrs. Stevens, EHS’s choir director, called on the students who lettered in choir this year. Congratulations everyone!
Choraliers and troubadours performed many pieces including King of Anything, with solos from Isabela Orr, Ashley Hagg, Alex Nalls, Keira Schofeild, Annesley Edwards, and Kenedy Lott.
After a fun and remarkable rendition of Desperta Ferro from the troubadours, seniors that had been in choir for all three years of their high school career were awarded a medal to wear with their caps and gowns to showcase their dedication to the choral program from start to finish.
Isabela Orr and Kennedy Lott followed the medal ceremony with a performance of “Eighteen,” an original song by Isabela, accompanied and dueted by Kennedy. The heart warming performance earned a standing ovation by the entire crowd!
Following the duet came the senior awards for the choir department, with Grant Chisholm receiving the Ed Sand ‘Spirit of the Choir’ award. Congrats to everyone who received a reward!
Chamber finished the concert with Shenandoah and Sesere Eeye, beautiful pieces that they will perform again this weekend at the Apollo Club Event on Saturday at the First United Methodist Church at 3pm, admission is by donation.
