The Drama Club is preparing the stage for its upcoming musical, “Little Women” which will be performed in the EHS Auditorium in March 2018.

Auditions are set for December 11 and 12 . Cynthia Brown, head director of the Drama Club reminded her potential cast and crew that the auditions would be a little different this year, “I would like to have parents come because there’s going to be a change in the way we do things with this next musical.”

“Little Women” tells the story of four sisters living with their mother in England while their father is away serving in the Civil War. Life isn’t easy for them, especially after they lose all their fortune. The musical has been recounted hundreds of time, and now it’s time for the actors and actresses of EHS to bring it to life on their own stage in their own way.

For those interested in auditioning, the Drama Club would be providing copies of the music and participants can choose the song they want to sing. Auditionees must prepare and perform the arranged piece. “You need to sing one of the songs provided, not the song of your choice,” stated Brown.

This year’s musical sets more serious tone and students are asked to act accordingly. Expectations have been set and the bar has been raised.  “If you want to be part of the musical, you need to be mature and responsible. In order to be part of the musical, grades must be at an all-time high and acceptable.”

Students were encouraged to take a chance and try out. “If you want the really tough stuff which is the leads, or if you want ensemble which is just as fun, the options are there,” explained Drama Club president Elli Delzer.

Brown concluded her informational meeting with some words of advice to prospective and future players. “An audition is not just an audition, you audition every day. It’s your behavior that gets watched. So things you’ve done in the past are going to affect our choices when you get cast for the show.”
