On May 8, 2026, Eastmont softball hosted a doubleheader against Moses Lake High School for the district title showdown. In the opening game, the Wildcats were able to jump on the visitors and take a strong lead. The game had an energetic and loud atmosphere while the Wildcat girls took a 10-run lead in the 5th inning. This led to an instant forfeit due to a run-rule, securing the Wildcats’ victory.
During the game break, both teams rested and regrouped for another intense game. Moses Lake returned strong, overpowering the Wildcats, who struggled to stay in the game. After a long 4th inning, the Mavericks built a large lead, nearly ending the game. Despite the struggle, Eastmont continued its fight and managed to put more runs on the board.
Over the rest of the game, the Moses Lake girls kept their high lead with Eastmont closing the gap. With one last opportunity, only a few runs behind, Eastmont put their heart into the game and, with a few runs to go, fell short and were defeated 13-10.
This split game will lead to a three-way district title between Eastmont, Moses Lake, and West Valley, who will play again for a chance at state. The Eastmont softball team will face off against West Valley on May 14 to see who will advance to the state tournament and who will need to fight back in order to earn the same opportunity.
